I am not a Romney lover: I think he is arrogant and I have a problem with his total lack to support for the man that is our President but that being said, I don't care what happened in the primaries in Utah, I think it is a good bet to put your money on him in November
Isn't that one of the problems we now have as a country? That if one is a Republican or a Democrat, they are expected to show total support to the President, even if they do not agree with him. Total loyalty to the leader and not to their own beliefs about what is actually good for the country.
You call it honestly, but many are happy with what he has done or tried to do since elected. I agree he is not lovable, if fact I would go so far as to say, not even likable but he knows how to get it done, if it is possible to get it done. BTW, what makes you make a statement about Trump lasting in office til the end of the year. and as for Romney running again for President I doubt it will happen: if it does, sorry, like Romney or not, like Trump or not, superior or not, Romney's days are over. No way could he win the nomination if Trump decides to run. At least this is my opinion and we all have one, right or wrong.
What has he actually been able to accomplish that helped the type of person that voted for him? His big tax cuts were focused on rich people and in doing so, have forever undermined the "fiscally responsible" moniker that conservatives had built for decades. That debt is going to have to be addressed at some point.
His other policies, foreign or domestic, have revolved around giving corporations blank checks to do whatever they wanted, from banks screwing consumers to industry polluting our water, air and land. Meanwhile, he's managed to start a virtual trade war and has inexplicably refused to punish Russia for its actions against our system of government.
And in his White House, it's been near constant chaos, with a steady river of firings, investigations, indictments and scandals.
And he's done it all with a type of flagrant, festering narcissism that has damaged the very office of President.
Why are you all gaga-eyed over him for, exactly? Ironically, his presidency has ended up pretty much exactly what his supporters fear-mongered and claimed would've happened under Hillary.

Yep. No matter what someone's political beliefs are, unconditional loyalty, whether to a party- or worse- to a single person- is very dangerous. We're talking about human beings here, not gods.

For the poster you are responding to, and probably many others here as well, he had an (R) after his name. That is, quite literally, what this poster stated after Trump won the nomination. Party before country. I'm betting there are millions just like her in that regard.
They must continue to pretend that he is doing an awesome job and that they are happy with the chaos and lies and disorder and unseemliness of the man, or they would have to admit that they voted for an imbecile simply because he was their party's nominee. Which is the sad truth of the matter.
Probably the biggest downer for Romney is his attitude about Trump. Like Trump not, there will be many who will hesitate supporting a candidate that puts our president down or there could be.
Trump isn't all that popular in Utah.
He got 45.1% of the vote, Hillary got 27.2%, and Evan McMullin got 21.3%.
Compare that to West Virginia, where Trump got 68.7% of the vote, Wyoming, where he got 68.2%, Oklahoma, where he got 65.3%, and Alabama, where he got 62.1%.

It's important to remember that McMullin was a guy Mitt dug up to run against Trump.
Some Utahans voted for Mitt, some voted for his hand-picked guy. Not much difference there, except in the numbers. 45.1 + 21.3 = 66.4% of the vote against Trump.

That reinforces the point that Mitt is popular in Utah and Trump isn't.
There is really nothing to support nmnita's claim that Republicans in Utah will vote against Romney because he doesn't always support Trump. Romney is going to win in a landslide.
Oh, and I agree with Romney that Russell Westbrook is overrated.

Isn't it more like Trump got 45.1 of the vote and McMullin/Clinton combined got 48.5? Mitt wasn't running in the 2016 presidential election.
...nah...mittens is just a carpetbagger, in the true sense of the word...
That's exactly what he is....an unscrupulous opportunist who stands for nothing. The poster-boy modern Republican.
