Non-sequitur. Alexandria self-identifies as socialist. Venezuela moved heavily towards socialism after the election of Chavez in 1999. That, not corruption, is the source of much of their problems. Socialism (gov't ownership/operation of the means of production) has not worked wherever it has been tried.
If you are a business and you don't want the people involved then don't demand they bail you out.

Where did I say that we had 'more in common' with Venezuela? Have you read any books about Venezuela? They moved heavily towards socialism only after Chavez. They were actually the most, prosperous nations in South America before Chavez. Chavez was a persuaded, true-believer socialist. And btw, everything that Chavez did, he did by winning elections. Congrats to her, especially after being outspent. I've seen one source that the spending was 18-1, and another 10-1. Either way, that is an inspirational win.
You can't expect the people to be less violent than their government. If violence concerns you, why not start at the top?
