Convoluted, but that's NY politics for ya. And I sincerely hope it does split the vote. What's even better than the article is the Comments column...young progs HATE Nancy Pelosi.
I don't know what to say about someone who thinks Pelosi isn't liberal enough.....

Well it should be interesting to say the least. I did hear her on TV last night. Thank goodness she is just running for a local seat; she is so unready for politics. OK, so we know Trump wasn't exactly ready either, but she has absolutely no clue about anything.

this is one of the few districts where a 3 way race isnt going to help the Republican.

They could cause havoc by voting for Crowley.

It’s not the GOP that is the joke, it’s the voters.

She's actually running for the US House of Representatives not a local position. I think she is the best thing to happen to Team R this year. Even as what amounts to a Marxist on this site (ie slightly left of center)- I can see her being a long term R asset as she flounders her way though. And in terms of long term impact its hard to overcome first impressions/early missteps. Dan Quayle would be exhibit A on that count.

I'll add the Dem she defeated in the primary did nothing nefarious. NY is famous for having multiple parties qualified to be on the ballot and both Rs and Ds are free to run on multiple lines. He received the working family party endorsement prior to Democratic primary. The only way he can be dropped is if he moved out of district, ran for another office, was convicted or died. He said none of those apply for him so he's simply quit campaigning. But leaving the ballot is not something in his control.
