Ted Cruz's background:

Doug Ross @ Journal: Ever Looked at Ted Cruz's Resume?

Say what you will about Ted Cruz, but the Senator from Texas is the only man in the current presidential field who has spent his entire life defending the United States Constitution.

He went to the Senate promising he wasn't going there to make friends, but instead pledged to rattle the cages of the establishment. And, unlike 99.9% of the politicos who make it to D.C., he kept his promises:

  •
  • Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 - May 2008, Cruz was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the entire country, and had the longest tenure in Texas history.
  • Partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he led the firm’s U.S. Supreme Court and national appellate litigation practice.
  • Cruz has authored 80+ SCOTUS briefs and presented 40+ oral arguments before The Court
  • Cruz served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Cruz was the first Hispanic ever to clerk for a Chief Justice of the United States
  • Described as a 'superb' constitutional lawyer, the man's considerable skills and laser-like focus were on display for all when he took oily reptile Eric Holder by the neck in 2013 and made him answer the frickin question.
  • In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states in defense of the principle that the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.
  • Cruz presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
  • In addition to his victory in Heller, Cruz has successfully defended theTen Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools and the majority of the 2003 Texas redistricting plan. Cruz also successfully defended, in Medellin v. Texas, the State of Texas against an attempt by the International Court of Justice to re-open the criminal convictions of 51 murderers on death row throughout the United States.
  • Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission
  • Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.
  • Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation
  • Ted Cruz is currently junior US Senator from Texas. In order to win the 2012 Republican nomination for the Senate seat vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison, Cruz had to defeat Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst -heavily favored/backed by the DC old-guard GOP- in the Republican primary runoff. In the event, TEA Party favorite Cruz crushed Dewhurst, 57-43%...
he then beat Democrat Paul Sadler in the general election by a similar margin, 56-41. Cruz is also endorsed by the Tea Party Movement and the Republican Liberty Caucus.
  • AWARDS: "America's Leading Lawyers for Business," Chambers USA (2009 & 2010)
"50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America," National Law Journal (2008)
"25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter Century," Texas Lawyer (2010)
"20 Young Hispanic Americans on the Rise," Newsweek (1999)
Traphagen Distinguished Alumnus, Harvard Law School
  • Led efforts to protect the Congressional "power of the purse" -- and the Constitution's checks and balances -- by shutting down the government in 2013 in order to defund Obamacare. Despite the shrieks of the government-media complex, not only did the shutdown not hurt the GOP, Cruz's party took the Senate in 2014.

That's why he was our first choice in the Republican primary for the party's nomination for president. That's why the Liberals hate him so much.

Exactly. I voted for Ted in the primary based on his record, and his willingness to filibuster Obamacare. Turns out he was right about Obamacare.

I totally agree!

News story about family in Katy, TX====west of Houston--wife is Beto supporter, husband not usually a Dem but voting Beto this time
They painted their front lawn w/Beto sign
Did same thing in Austin for Obama and had no issues
This time someone on their HOA board drove by while they were in the midst of painting it and had very emotional reaction==like """Stop, stop---you can't do that"...not very professional manner as he is board member...

They got served with a cease/desist order from their HOA supposedly because this is a "landscaping issue" not a political sign...
But someone on her street has had a sign in front yard (not political and no action from the HOA) saying "We stand for the flag and kneel for the cross"...but that is OK...

The HOA board has to enforce rules for the HOA impartially and justly---so if that woman's sign is against HOA rules even if Board agrees w/sentiment--they still can't allow it to be there...

So the Beto-sign family are trying to decide if it is worth fighting it since they have 30 days to oppose the order--
Well, election is over lot sooner than 30 days...
So seems like they can have their cake and eat it too...
But there is other language that makes it seem like they have 5 days to respond so like lot of HOA stuff confusing...
I am sure plenty of people are appoplectic--but you can't steal that sign...

Well for one thing Trump doesn't drink or has never driven drunk and tried to leave the scene of an accident like your boy Robert Francis O'Rourke. Nor was he ever arrested for attempted burglary and trespassing. In fact I don't believe Trump was ever arrested for anything? What you see is what you get with Trump. He does not pretend to be something that he's not. Unlike your boy Robert Francis O'Rourke who will say anything or do anything to get elected. Trump does not have an excessively adulating media kissing his ass and fawning all over him. In fact it's quite the opposite they hate every bone and fiber of his body. Yet he still soldiers on, regardless of what the media thinks of him.

But what does any of this have to do with Robert Francis O'Rourke, who is the subject of this topic?

Indeed, Ted Cruz is a true Constitutionalist to the core. It's the very fiber of his being, it's part of his heart and sole. Probably because his father was born and raised in Cuba and experienced first hand what Socialism/Communism is all about. It's no wonder that Ted Cruz is so passionate about preserving the United States of America as a Constitutional Republic of which it was founded instead of declining into a third world socialist hell hole of which his father was born and raised. Yet those on the Left hate his guts for this? Another reason why they hate him is because they can't win a debate with him. They detest anyone that can prove them wrong, making them all look like fools. All they can do is attempt to destroy his character. Ted Cruz is right about a lot of things, a true believer in a just cause and deserves the vote of the majority of Texans.
