Virtually all knew Hof was dead. The intent was to elect Hof so that a Republican would be appointed by the involved County Commissions. NV law requires that a person of the same party be appointed in such an event.

The Assembly district involved is quite red and a bit Libertarian. No Democrats get elected there.
