I would respect racists a lot more if they would just own it. Stop trying to pretend you like blacks and other minorities and just come out and say it.

No wonder Donald Trump has praised her and supported Hyde-Smith.

It's 'heritage not hate'.

Apparently 'South's gonna keep trying to do it again' & also keep failing.

Donald Trump to hold TWO rallies for Hyde-Smith this week, calling her "an outstanding person."

You can argue sematics all you want but the message is pretty darned clear to what it is in the context of Mississippi and the history of Jim Crow.

She talked of attending a public hanging. So is she referring to attending a lynching or a public execution done by hanging? They used to publicly hang people as a form of execution in America. She could say that this is what she was talking about and not a lynching done by a vigilante mob.

Still trying to play sematics with parsing? Boy, the degree to how apologists for dog whistles will go...

You guys can defend her all you want but this is Mississippi we are talking about. They had the most lynchings of black people then any other state. Lynching shouldn't even be a word in her vocabulary. It’s not funny and really shows her true feelings

I'm just anticipating her likely defense. She mentioned that she would attend a public hanging which at one time were how they executed people in America. She didn't say nothing about attending a lynching. She can easily deny that. People are adding their lynching interpretation into what they think she meant.

^In Mississippi, it’s a distinction without a difference, really.
