Just because he lost a close race running as a Democrat in a red state doesn't mean he won't have a chance running for president as a Democrat. I say go for it.
To those that say this, you have NO idea how inflexible so much of the electorate is here! We have MANY rural RED counties and an unwavering hardcore religious base that will ONLY vote Red. In order for Beto to win, he would have to have added more first-time voters and carried even larger victories in the major cities. The battleground states are more flexible and make their voting choices in a different way than southern states. Southern states tend to base much of their decisions for candidate by race/religion, less on substance. Hasn’t it always been that way? That’s why Beto has a good chance.
