Democrats are set to pull off the largest midterm elections victory in history, according to a breakdown of the popular vote in races for the House of Representatives.

The party leads the Republicans by more than 8.9 million votes across the US, raw data compiled by the Cook Political Report, an independent, non-partisan political analysis website.

Previously, the largest margin of victory was 8.7 million, which came in the 1974 midterm elections after the Watergate scandal and Richard Nixon’s resignation..."

Ken, the number or registered voters based on party has little to do with election results. And the number of votes one party gets over another makes little difference as well. Don't count your chickens before they hatch The one think the Democrats get gain was the ability to stop any vote they want and I sure, they will do all they can to block anything the GOP is in favor of. How sad is that?

Oh, to let you know, your so called non-partisan website is may be non partisan but that does not mean it doesn't lean one way. That would like saying FOX news doesn't lean right because they have some left leaning contributors.

except that isnt true. When you actually look at the number( polling on ideology and party. Gallup, Voter Project, Pew)

California is around 60% Democratic, give or take a percent. Texas, on the other hand, doesnt have Republicans topping 53%

You could however make the argument that Republicans in states like Connecticut stay home.

Not even sure what your point is here. Where did I say ANYTHING about the number of registered voters of a particular party? The fact is the total number of votes that Democratic candidates got blows away the total number of votes that GOP candidates got. Considering that the Democratic voters don't tend to turn out in mid-term elections the way that GOP voters do it's a bad sign for the next (ie Presidential) election - when Democrats DO tend to turn out. Thanks to Trump, Democrats are motivated in a big, big way.

Trump is no Obama. He has the lowest average approval rating for any President EVER - and this is with an economy doing fairly well - which SHOULD translate into high approval ratings, and yet it doesn't. The fact is OUTSIDE the GOP, Trump is NOT VERY POPULAR.

The "popular vote" argument has already been addressed.

Ken
That only proves what is already known. No one was held accountable in the Obama admin. They got the free pass no matter what they did and A.G. Holder is the perfect example of that. The Obama legacy is one of lies and corruption.

Oh its all a giant conspiracy, huh? The media, labor and corporate interests, the lib-ur-als, the socialists, and the communists are all out to get Trump and the republicans. All that is such a pile of BS that I'm surprised even you can't figure it out.

The lies and the BS continue after the GOP got drubbed in the election.

Some will never see the light.

But it will get worse for them as more and more people see the reality that Trump was elected based on a pile of lies and half truths.
