Are you telling me, you took all this time to try and find an article that actually backed up your claim, and the best you could do was a Vanity Fair article where they quote FiveThirtyEight and their highest prediction is a Democratic gain of 35 seats ?????????????????
Perhaps you don't read the same type of political forums I do, perhaps you stay away from left wing forums and websites where democrats openly discuss their expectations.
What exactly are those 7 plus seats ?
Democrats thought they had a chance at Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Tennessee, where are the other 3 seats and who was claiming Democrats could win them ???????
Im not jabbing you or even making the recovery argument. Im saying you are struggling to make your point as what you attempted to post as your proof, actually underestimated the Democratic performance.
I am sorry but it did not fail. Clearly you are upset at the victories by the democrats and are in the process of coming to terms with it. It was incumbent upon me to point that out to you, since you are clearly still struggling with the issue. At some point you will eventually come to terms with your grief, but in the meantime you will be going throug6th.h the various stages of grief that I explained.
If you continue to have problems with the victories by the democrats for another, say, month or two, there are therapists who can help you.
Republicans have an enormously difficult time accepting that both Donald Trump and their policies are not liked by a majority of Americans. So, when confronted with that they immediately claim the election was rigged and make baseless claims about illegal aliens voting. When this fails, the next step is to label democrats as "socialists", "communists", or even "islamic terror supporters".
Most people do not want to repeal the ACA and the polls have consistently shown that. You can't honestly argue you want to protect those with health insurance from being excluded for having a preexisting condition when you supported an unqualified repeal of the ACA. The voters saw through that. The voters also, I believe, understand that repealing legislation like Dodd-Frank and the CFPB is not in the public interest after the last recession. On top of all that the party in the White House virtually always loses seats in the House in a midterm election. The reason though that that explanation is insufficient is that losses are apparently going to reach forty seats this year. Given the good economy, they should be fewer. The difference is explained by differences with policy and the fact that Donald Trump comes across so badly in his public statements and discourse.
I agree with your assessment that we are hearing much grief from the republicans. They have been unusually bitter since November 6th. I am afraid worse is to come. The Mueller Report is coming.

Your own provided link never made such a claim.
I suppose hold on to FL, ID , ND and MO? then winning TX and TN
The only upset the Democrats had in the senate was losing Florida. ND, MO, and ID very deep red states. They did well flipping NV and more so AZ + keep MT.
I suppose if you want to make a case losing Florida was a disappointment otherwise Democrats did very well.
