I was actually planning on splitting it by half years anyways but the fact that the Miami debate was right at the end of the first half of the year makes it perfect.

My personal thoughts, now that the first round of debates are over....

Biden is probably still the frontrunner, but I think Harris just gave herself a big bump up. Whether it proves enough to overcome him is up for debate.

I think Bernie is going to fade out. He and Warren are on similar wavelengths (though not exact). But while Bernie's ferocity worked in 2016, things have changed, and now he's coming across as an angry old man, and I think that's going to cost him. Warren shows up as more even-tempered.

So, just my opinion, I think the three to really watch for are going to be Biden, Warren, and Harris.

Buttigieg did well enough, but I don't think quite well enough to bump himself up to serious threat. But that could change, so I'm not discounting him yet.

Castro also did well, but I don't see him quite breaking into the top tier at this point.

I could see some potential VP picks in this group, depending on who takes the nomination: Buttigieg, Booker, Gillibrand, Inslee, Klobuchar, and Castro.

Everybody else, in my opinion, will probably slough off. I was hoping Hickenlooper and Bennet would make better showings, since they're from Colorado, but it was not to be.
