I’d Rather be Black than Female
~ Shirley Chisholm, 1970

In 1968, Shirley Chisholm (1924–2005) became the first black woman to be elected to Congress. In 1972 she became a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, the first woman and the first African American to contend for that honor.

Quote:
Being the first black woman elected to Congress has made me some kind of phenomenon. There are nine other blacks in Congress; there are ten other women. I was the first to overcome both handicaps at once. Of the two handicaps, being black is much less of a drawback than being female.

I'm a black woman.

I don't like Sanders or Warren and even though I do like Biden, I think he's too old. I personally don't think our country is ready for a woman president in particular and of those who have been hinted at running, I don't think they would be successful. I think a woman would need to be extremely exceptional in her personality and background to be able to win the White house. She would need to be an Obama in a way. Obama was a very extraordinary candidate and as a black candidate, mostly due to his charisma but along with his name being foreign and him having a white mother. He could come off as not "too" black.

On women, I do like Amy Kobuchar, she doesn't have the baggage/notoriety of Clinton or Warren or even Kamala Harris and I think she' d be a good candidate. I also do like Kamala Harris. She's an HBCU alum but I don't think America is ready for a not all the way black woman cause she's "more black" in a way than Obama lol.

Other older white men I like is actually the first declared candidate - John Delaney. I think he is a common sense candidate but because of that probably won't appeal to the masses who like drama. I also would love Sherrod Brown who is our current Senator from OH. But I'd honestly worry about him being replaced by a right wing nut if he runs - but if he does unless I'm really swayed by another candidate, I'd vote for him in the primary.

I would prefer someone around the age Obama was when he was elected.

Don’t care about gender or ethnicity.

My favorite pairing for 2020:

Prez: Sherrod Brown
Veep: Beto

I kinda like it.

But what about that Tulsi Gabbart? I did see her interviewed the other day. VP?
