That was hope as well as change. The Clinton family was enriched as well.

Someone I met at an AJC convention also called the Democratic race a “clown car.” Being in extremely liberal Democrat I am ashamed of the state of affairs.

Beta O'Rourke's home state is Texas. He was the Democrat's sacrificial lamb against Ted Cruz in the 2018 Senate race there.

The only reason he polled as well as he did against Cruz was because that race was the most expensive senate race in US history. O'Rourke's funding dwarfed Cruz's and was provided by massive big out of state money, which was compounded by all of the usual Democrat mass media outlets promoting O'Rourke wall to wall.

This was the ONLY reason that O'Rourke was competitive. He was a media creation puffed up with more out of state money than we have ever seen put into a senate candidate before - and he still lost that race.

O'Rourke is very possibly even more of an empty suit than Obama, if you can imagine that. There is no "there", there. The guy is no more ready to make a serious run for president than he is to publish breakthrough scientific papers that solve the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy.

Beta O'Rourke is more out of his depth than any presidential candidate we have ever seen that shows up with support in the national polls. He will not be a factor in the national race, and he will almost certainly be out of the race long before the primary in Texas is held.

Biden has reversed himself on the Hyde Amendment, which supposedly prohibits federal funding of abortions.

Quote:
Biden World shell-shocked amid Hyde furor

A source familiar with Biden's thinking said it was a complicated issue, inextricably intertwined with the former vice president’s Catholicism. “The Biden ethos is family and faith,” the source said. “Always has been, always will be.”

Such explanations beg the question of what justification — other than cold-eyed political calculation — could be offered for such a rapid U-turn on an issue that is fundamentally the same as it ever was. “I think he realized very quickly that the world has changed, even since a year ago. Abortion clinics are closing, Planned Parenthood is in trouble and there aren't a lot of options for underprivileged folks. The climate has completely changed,” said another Biden ally.

The broader danger for Biden may be the way in which the change on the Hyde Amendment invites scrutiny of other parts of his past record that sit uneasily with today’s Democratic Party, where progressives are widely seen as ascendant.
Let's remember, he signed on to the green new deal just last week.

Quote:
Joe Biden embraces Green New Deal as he releases climate plan

“Biden has been trying to take somewhat of a centrist tack, but he has to appease the core of the base if he’s going to win the primary,” said Jim Manley, who served as an aide to former Senate majority leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.). “They’ve needed to start throwing down some solid policies that will appease the left.”

To that end, Biden’s climate plan adopts the rhetoric — and at times, many of the actual policy proposals — of the Green New Deal resolution put forward this year by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), which calls on the nation to eliminate its carbon footprint by 2030.
Supposedly, Biden is the "centrist" or "moderate" candidate for the Democrats this time around. But as he flips and flops and adjusts his positions consistently to the left, what is it that makes him attractive to moderate Democrats again?

If he basically is going to embrace pretty much the same agenda as the far left "progressive" candidates are, then why should voters not just vote for one of them? At least some of them actually appear to believe in this stuff. Biden clearly doesn't. He is just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping that it sticks.

MA Poll (BG/Suffolk): Biden 22, Warren 10, Buttigieg 8, Sanders 6

Pocahontas at 10% support and down 12 to Joe Biden in her home state of Massachusetts. If she cannot win here, she likely cannot win anywhere.
