Warren was here over the weekend giving a speech. Incidentally the crowd size, reported as 15,000, is being challenged. Some say it was 5-6000.
Anyway a local talk host asked for comments from non-white listeners about Warren's claim of native ancestry, and got an earful. I've heard she is polling around 1% among blacks. If Warren has a problem re identity politics, she has a problem in the primaries.
If Biden continues to stumble and stutter, I can see a possible path for Bernie Sanders here. I don't think he would have the same ID politics stumbling block.

I think if Ds want a progressive candidate they need to coalesce around either Warren or Sanders, if they both stay in they are going to split the progressive vote and Biden or another centrist could get the nom.

Yes, this is true. Except it's hard to see who the other centrist might be. Harris is already toast IMO.
But to your point, right now RCP has Sanders+Warren polling at 33.6; Biden at 28.9. If this continues, they could indeed split the progressive vote and open the door for Biden.
Bernie is too old, too white, too angry and has little or no political backing. I feel bad for Joe... seems like he needs to be in special ed program.
As long as Liz doesn't drink beer and dance at the same time ... she'll be the nominee. Lordy she makes Elaine from Seinfeld look like Ginger Rogers (google it kids).
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) announced Wednesday she is dropping out of the presidential race after failing to qualify for the September primary debate.
"I know this isn't the result we wanted. We wanted to win this race," Gillibrand said in a video posted to Twitter. "But it's important to know when it's not your time, and to know how you can best serve your community and country. I believe I can best serve by helping to unite us to beat Donald Trump in 2020."
99 bottles of beer on the wall. 99 bottles of beer. Take one down, pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall.....

Warren definitely appears to be the establishment Ds candidate so far. Though her policy positions are similar to Bernie’s, she’s a lifelong Democrat where he isn’t, and she has never been that close to him politically. She was closer to Hillary the last cycle, with Hillary even considering her for VP.
I would still contend that the ID politics presents a serious problem for Warren. Blacks are about 13% of the population, thus presumably amount to close to 25% of the Dem electorate. A rough calculation, but the number must be up there.
If Warren is polling at 1% among blacks (as I heard some pundit say the other day), she's going to have a problem in the D primaries.

Some pundit? Cmon man you can do better than that.
It took me all of 2 minutes to find a poll of black primary voters. She got 8%.

Blacks don't like Sanders either.

What difference does it make what she said 'last cycle'? She is not establishment and she is far left.

I'm making the point that she is not as much of a far left outsider to the D establishment as Bernie is.
Biden is the other establishment candidate but there are a lot of establishment Ds who are lining up behind Warren.
