Incorrect. GOP gained ground in middle-class areas in 2016

" Although many middle-class areas voted for Barack Obama in 2008, they overwhelmingly favored Donald Trump in 2016, a shift that was a key to his victory."

And that was against Hillary. As bad as Hillary was as a candidate-even she wasn't one of the far-left loons that now seem to be the face of the Democratic party. At least we know where she stands-she's out to put money in her own pocket, and little else.

Right. But I believe the Democrats have lost the white middle class in several elections now.

And I don't think Brown's had to pay off any porn stars, either.

I choose to believe the 'horse's mouth.'

"...Larke Recchie, Brown’s former wife, calls the video aired by supporters of Jim Renacci ‘shameless’ and ‘disgusting’

"...WASHINGTON Larke Recchie, the ex-wife of Sen. Sherrod Brown, said she is “dismayed†supporters of Brown’s re-election opponent Jim Renacci resurrected a three-decade old accusation Thursday that Brown engaged in domestic violence against her, calling the use of her divorce records for a political campaign “shameless†and “disgusting.â€...

"..Just hours after the Daily Caller in Washington reported a video was airing accusing Brown of abusing his former wife in the 1980s, Renacci, a Republican congressman from Wadsworth, told The Columbus Dispatch: “Sherrod Brown’s well-documented history of domestic violence is deeply troubling. Ohioans deserve to know all the facts, and judge his fitness for public office for themselves.â€

“I was proud to support Sherrod in 2006 and 2012 — just as I am this time around. Anyone who suggests he is not an honorable man is just wrong,†she said.

Yet another case where Democrats tarring and feathering of Kavanaugh is going to come back to bite us in the posterior. It would appear that there is more evidence against Brown than Kavanaugh. Senate Democrats lined up almost 100% against Kavanaugh.

your post does not say im incorrect.Your link only talks about communities that shifted towards Trump, it doesnt claim he won them overall.

This is the equivalent of saying Trump won more counties than Clinton in say Minnesota, never mind that half of Minnesotas population is in 4 counties and she won the state overall

One huge difference between Brown and Manchin, if you're trying to appeal to the widest possible audience, is Manchin's support of the 2nd amendment. I only know a small handful, but there are Democrats out there who care about their rights, and there are semi-Republicans like me who will vote Democrat sometimes, but not the very rabid anti-gun ones.

I did vote for Obama in '08. I believed in him when he said we needed change. Then, once he was in office, we got too-big-to-fail bailouts, stimulus packages, a continuation of our involvement in Iraq, No Child Left Behind reworked as Race to the Top, and nothing done for working people. Just like George Bush before him. If electing a Democrat gives us the same thing as electing Republicans does, why would I give up my rights for that?

I don't know how Democrats can truly appeal to the middle class but I feel they'll do better than Trump. We know what Trump is and most of the nation don't like him and I don't see it getting much better and federal workers and contractors could be a very hard group to win back if they voted for Trump but now got screwed once by Trump and could be again if he throws another bossy fit over his wall.

Yeah, that is true, that's why The Electoral College exists.
