Had to look up this guy. I respect him for making it into space. It's a shame however that his name isn't as recognizable as that of Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Neal Armstrong. NASAs manned space program has languished for decades, and now requires the Russians to get there. It's a shameful legacy.

I don't think his status as Astronaut will get him elected. He's gonna have to do it on a platform. We shall see.

Arizona's been in the toilet for a long time. There's no difference between Kelly and McCain.

I think his stance on the 2nd amendment will be his doom. No, he's not anti 2nd amendment in an absolute manner, but he's donated to causes and politicians (via his wife's group) that are outside of the AZ mainstream on gun control from what I gather. I actually think McSally has a better shot at winning election should Kelly get the dem nomination.

Granted his views on it tends to be more in the spotlight due to what happened with the shooting of his wife, but there really isn't that much of a difference in views on guns between him and Sinema, and Sinema just defeated McSally for Flake's old seat.

in addition to the issues presented here, he has one that may end up disqualifying him from an AZ senate seat, and that is, his stated residence ins houston texas, not arizona. so unless he changes his residence, chances are he wont be the junior senator from arizona.

Where are you seeing this?

Quote:
After too many homes in too many places, Kelly has spent the past six years in Tucson, in a wide Southwestern-style ranch near the center of the city. It’s within biking distance of their favorite movie theater and Bentley’s, the veggie-heavy breakfast spot where he and Gabby start almost every day. Her childhood home is just a few miles away.

She chose the house on sight. They moved in a year after the shooting and filled the walls with reminders of the lives they once led. The plaque from Gabby’s congressional office leans on a shelf by the front door. Tiny trophies bearing both their names claim every inch of the living room windowsills, right by the graffiti-covered door from Kelly’s quarters on the USS Midway. He’s turned one bedroom into a basic gym and is building a video studio in another, so he can go on TV without leaving the house.
