He wants to get democrats to unify behind promoting corporate control and neo-liberal economics like Bill Clinton did in the 90s.

And it will work.

Let's hope not.

Otherwise, Trump supporters rejoice!

It will, the majority of democrats know nothing and think Obama was against wall street and the financial institution.

All Biden has to do is talk about what great friends he is with Obama, so lines about unity and globalism, and then we're back to center right economics, pro-cheap labor, foriegn off shoring, and higher drug prices.

And democrats will cheer.

Unity is a word that can be used to different ends. But isn't always a sham. Unity in WWII. Just barely enough unity (under the master politician Johnson who didn't have to lead that fight except he knew real people and actually cared about them and the principles) to pass an important round of Civil Rights laws. Unity to get thru the great depression and later the great recession. In the end you often have to unite to get big things done.

Often the left unites unto itself to do something and finds they are short on votes. Maybe they get it done on the 5th try. After it is watered down some to unite enough to get it done. What major national progress got done on a smash, full on, the first time? There may not always be much difference between Republican and mainstream Democratic but there often is and that is worth some unity, some of the time. I'd say there is enough reason to try unity this time, at least by the end of the primaries, whatever the outcome.

Biden's unity means no more calls for change or back to normal policies.

He uses terms like stability and normality for a reason.

I understand your perspective. There is a choice between back to where it was (or forward a little) or forward a lot. Whichever banner reigns after the primary, I hope it has enough votes to beat going the wrong direction and probably faster and longer (the next Supreme court appointments).

I will not be voting for Biden under any circumstance. He wants to promote trade with China just like the free trade economists of the late 90s which is just a call for corporate tyranny.

Biden's unity will mean a return to Obama/Democrat style Identity Politics and divisiveness. He told a group of Black people that the Republicans would put them all back in chains in 2016. Is that unity?

Truly free trade, with access to, and reduction of the power of the state (to prevent "crony capitalism") is hardly "corporate tyranny"

And neither is a basic manifesto of employee rights; this would reduce the subjugation of the individual, within an over-sensitized and over-politicized "post-industrial" workplace, and in the name of a "corporatist" society promoted by Madison Avenue -- in order to appease a nation increasingly composed of spoiled, but obedient children, and increasingly sustained via transfer payments.

HA HA HA! We currently have the most divisive president in history. Let that sink in. He doesn't even PRETEND to care about anyone other than who voted for him.

He takes actual punitive action against states that did not vote for him.

But, yeah, Biden's comment was fairly awful. That's one.
