Southern states that are seeing economic growth in urban areas alongside decline in the rural areas are ones that have potential to go blue sometime in the future.
Race is another factor to consider. In alot of states, rural vs urban is a big factor. In places like SC, GA, AL, LA, and MS, race plays a bigger factor. Rural majority-White counties vote Republican while rural majority Black counties (there are more rural, majority Black areas in the South than anywhere else in America) vote Democrat. Mississippi and Alabama are textbook examples of this, Alabama especially.

If they nominate Warren or Sanders, they are guaranteeing a trump win. Plain and simple... Neither will carry a single southern state, including VA ,NC, and FL. IMO, the only one that can realistically beat trump is Biden.

The way Warren has been campaigning I think she takes Va- I cannot see someone voting Clinton but turning their nose up at Warren. I think she will specifically do better than Clinton with more working class voters and she will have the benefit of more voters (typically woman) really keying in on abortion in a way they have not in recent years. I think this will let her keep NC and Ga close. NC was a 3 pt race in 2016 and Ga a 5 pt race. Both have gone more Dem the last couple of years. As importantly Trump was at 50% in Ga and 49% in NC. Those are not the most secure percentages.

Incorrect. How do we know? Because the Democrat Party has Nominated Satan to Run and lost.

It's absolutely silly to suggest that a region of 122,000,000 are at fault because the Democrat party is so out of touch with their values, they can't win elections in the South anymore. And make no mistake, it's not a coincidence, that people continue to pack their bags and move away from the Democrat hell holes as fast as they can.

That would be a big negative.

This would be a stinging rebuke if your own state were not turning blue to an extent that the GOP felt a need to Gerrymander districts within an ounce of credibility and the Rs still felt the need to perpetrate election fraud in one of the suburban Charlotte districts.

In my state of SC the transplants are typically Republicans. And ironically, a Dem picked up my house seat which had been R for almost forty years.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Wrong.

Presidential and Senate elections are not affected by Gerrymandering.

And in terms of NC, the Democrats did exactly the same thing for the 100 years they held the NC GA. Remember Republicans came to power in NC in districts drawn by Democrats.

Many southern states are poor, yet they keep voting for republicans who do nothing for their state. They should get out of their hole and maybe look at electing democrats. What have they got to lose.

Being poor does not equate to personal success or contentment. If government services are the goal, then by all means. Clearly you're a northerner and most likely live in an urban environment.

Southerner's are independent and many would "do without", before taking government assistance. What we do want is opportunities to work, sell our wears, enjoy the fruit of our labor and keep more of what we earn without government telling us how, what, where and how often.

Think of it as driving down the highway. We don't mind government acting like guardrails, but we don't want government telling us what type of car or truck to drive, how to get there and for how much.

We prefer uber for that.
