Coronavirus will help Trump election chances
A. I do not care. I'm a lot more interested in saving lives than anything else.
B. Yeah, it probably will. Demonstrating leadership in the face of a crisis tends to get you re-elected. It worked for George W and that guy was completely terrible!

I see the usual leftist hysterics are still grabbing every opportunity to lie about President Trump, claiming he called coronavirus a "hoax" when he never did.

The hysterics know, of course, that he never did. But they seem to think they can get others to believe otherwise if they lie enough about him.

The sickest individuals in our country are not the ones who have coronavirus. The truly sick ones are the ones who think they can destroy the leader of the country, in the middle of a crisis, by lying repeatedly about what he is saying and doing.

Calling it now.

All data I've been studying is pointing to a far more widespread, and STATISTICALLY mild virus. While the distancing was prudent, and necessary to prepare healthcare, this is going to be one of those hysterical media 40" blizzard predictions that never comes true.

Once antibody testing is wide, the true numbers are going to come out.

It's serious, but it's not doomsday. And it'll be over sooner than anyone expects.

His gloating will be EPIC. He will attack the media. He will discredit WHO. There will be a V-shaped recovery. And he very well may win in November.

I may be wrong. But let's see how this thread ages.
I can't think of anything yet which has not helped his reelection. It does not have as much to do with him as with the overall abandonment of democrat/liberalism/socialism across the country. Not one democrat candidate is likable enough or can at least consistently portray themselves as properly aggressive and competent enough to win. Therefore, he's got an easy path to victory no matter what else happens down the road.

I believe you just made the strongest case for his reelection.

I def could see him continually bring up the 2009 swine flu that killed what 12,000 Americans? He loves to compare everything against Obama.

Pointing out hypocrisy is part of the game in politics.

I agree with the OP though. If the infections taper off, and the deaths begin to decrease, and if the stock market bounces back, and without a considerable loss of jobs and with the 2 Trillion stimulus bill that just passed...it may just look like he effectively and masterfully managed a major crisis...that being said, I think he rolls in to 2020 in a landslide.

Polls are tricky things these days. You have one side of the poltical divide that believes in one fact like a nun believes in Jesus. They believe with all their hearts and souls that Republicans are evil, terrible, horrible, no good, very bad people. They believe that Trump is worse than Satan himself.

Now if you happen to be a Republican, a Trump supporter or both, what do you do when you have to interact with people who have such a skewed perception of reality? If you happen to live in very blue parts of the USA, you're going to make a habit of keeping your mouth shut about it. If somebody calls you on the phone asking for your political opinions, you're likely going to just say, "No thanks" and hang up. On the other hand, Democrats are completely tolerated in very red areas. I live in such a small town. The Truck and Limo rental place across the street from me surrounded the place with Bernie Sanders signs this year and in 2016, and Clinton signs when Bernie lost. Nobody slashed the tires of his vehicles. Nobody threw a brick through his windows. In fact, nobody bothered him at all. Nothing bad ever happened to the guy over it. But in heavily blue areas, putting up a Trump sign will get your car keyed, your tires slashed, bricks thrown through your windows and people will try to invent some legal means to force you to take the things down. If you go out walking around in the wrong parts of Chicago or New York City wearing a MAGA hat, heaven help you!! If you're lucky, people will just snatch the hat right off of your head and try to get rid of it, but there's a very good chance that you're going to get beaten up for it. You have a very large number of people who have been taught to keep silent about their political views, but that doesn't stop them from voting.

It stands to reason that the results in favor of Trump and the GOP represent a baseline minimum. His support is at least the number the aggregate shows you. The real numbers are likely a bit larger.

I think infections will “rise” dramatically.

By that I mean testing will show the big picture. Millions already infected or recovered, and vast majority mild cases. Death rate will plummet to .01% or so, along with hospitalization rate.

That’s just my prediction, though.
