Trump was down 12 points in the latest poll released, everyday the riots show him at his worst, while Biden looks & is acting like a president. It's going to be hard for Trump to rally the republican base.

Oh, he'll have his base.

They're solid as concrete.

But they'll only count for about 30%.

As the pandemic toll continues to mount and the unemployment rate climbs, the GOP will be counting the days until many will be packing their things to leave DC and state capitals across the nation.

Remember the 2016 polls? You can no longer rely on polls to predict an election. There are still many "closet" Trump fans that won't admit it when being polled. Also, if the current crises are not resolved, some undecided voters will not want to risk "changing horses midstream." I'm not convinced that Biden will be able to overcome this. He has a better chance than Sanders, but once again the Democrat party has failed to come up with a charismatic, younger, effective leader, somewhat moderate that can take away votes from the incumbent.

Agree that the over the top protests and resulting carnage will backfire on the democrats. The young, of which this movement mostly consists of, failed to turn up in impressive numbers for both the 2016 and 2018 elections. The people that do turn up, consistently time and time again, are out in the suburbs and beyond.

Currently, what I'm hearing are all the pundits/politicians/corporations telling everybody exactly what they want to hear because it's PC and good for business; it's almost the same statement verbatim about Floyd and that this needs to change, and we understand the angst of the peaceful protesters, blah blah blah.

In the end, the majority of civilized people of any race are going to go to the polls with images of weapon wielding out of control punk gangs seered into their memories with the democrats and the police doing little to stop it. Many of them do truly feel the pain of the African American community, but....more important is their livelihood, and they can't have it if their not feeling safe.

I agree. If Dems had a Law & Order candidate, they could easily win. Someone who could assure ring suburban middle to upper middle class, the rioters , next time, would be stopped immediately, dead in their tracks. Some govs in blue states calling in the guard Monday would have helped the DNC.

This is 1968. HH got just 42.7% of the vote.

It was less a pro Nixon, than an anti Democratic party vote, due to their soft touch with rioters.

Amen.

Civilized people want protection from savages rampaging our cities this week, like packs of rabid coyotes.

The minute a protests becomes a riot, at the ballot box in private, sentiment turns against those involved.

MLK & the Freedom Riders understood that well, and kept protests peaceful. Not the roaming packs we saw looting, burning , and killing in cities around the nation this week.

Johnson also kept supporting an unpopular war. That's how Humphrey became the Dem nominee.
This time, the Republicans hold the White House and the Senate. THEY are the establishment politics now. So I have doubts about how well "law and order" will sell these days. Trump is no LBJ.

Trump could win in 2020. I have no doubt in my mind that he will do everything in his power to lie, cheat, and steal another win. He's of that caliber. However, the Senate and House are another issue. There are many vulnerable Senate seats up in 2020 that could easily turn blue. If Trump is president and his psycho-pants gone from the Senate? He's a lame duck.
