Actually Trump only gave him the position because the GOP recommended him. Trump really didn't think he'd win the election and why he didn't have concrete plans set for a cabinet. The GOP came forward to "help" him out with their recommendations. If you actually look at their differences - Bolton wanted to be aggressive and send more troops into Afghanistan - Trump wanted to pull troops out. Bolton wanted to be aggressive with China - Trump wanted to sit down at the table and try and work things out.
You all kept saying Trump would get us into a 3rd WW and if anything - his actions show just the opposite. Bolton was the guy who wanted the US to bully the world.
Is that why Trump said "He was holding me back!" and "in some cases, he thought it was too tough what we were doing" and trying to make himself look even more hawkish than Bolton?
Given the stunning revelations in John Bolton's book--a clear pattern of obstruction of justice according to Bolton, Trump's woeful ignorance of foreign matters i.e. not knowing Britain was a nuclear power and thinking Finland was a part of Russia, his attempt to bribe China to help him win reelection, Bolton saying that every decision Trump made centered on winning reelection--can the Trump supporter reasonably expect Trump to win reelection?
How certain were you on October 18th 2016?
Because Hillary led by 7.1 in the RealClearPolitics national average....

There have been 20 books like this, and they never move the needle.
This one might be even less significant than others, because Bolton is not respected by either side, and he's releasing it close to an election and that means its sole purpose is to slander Trump.
Its an exercise in creative writing, and everybody knows that.
BTW, Pompeo has asked Bolton to submit the note (that Bolton claims Pompeo passed to him)....

Actually Trump's approval rating was a lot higher during the daily coronavirus briefings.
So the more Trump talks, the better he does (according to the polls).
Anyway, Trump hasn't lost any voters yet.

Remember Hillary led Wisconsin by 6.5 on November 7th in the RealClearPolitics polling average, and she lost it.
I'm pretty sure he's going to be reelected if my Dem friends are any indication. Two aren't voting at all and one is open to Trump only because of what's happening in the country today and the fact that he thinks Biden won't last 6 months.

I'm certain Trump will get more Black voters this time.....because he reformed the federal prison system with The First Step Act, provided more than $250 million a year to the nation’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCU), signed an executive order on law enforcement reform that said "chokeholds will be banned except if an officer’s life is at risk" among other amendments to police conduct, nominated the first ever African-American woman for promotion to General in the U.S. Marine Corps, Col. Lorna M. Mahlock, and nominated the first ever African-American for promotion to Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr.
Nobody who was going to vote for trump one month ago has changed their mind.
