Just want you to all remember, maybe write it down on a sticky note, that electoral votes decides the winner of the presidential election.

If a candidate is stumping around a state where they are up by a huge margin while neglecting a toss-up state then someone should warn them that they're getting more votes but fewer electoral votes that way.

Also, I would like to congratulate Washington on defeating the NY Giants Sunday with 275 yards of offense vs. 134 yard for the Giants.

Some cheaters are trying to claim that the Giants scoring 20 points to Washingtons 19 should give them the win but just because those are the rules everyone agreed to before the game doesn't make them fair.

P.S. Congratulations to Joe Biden for winning the Democratic nomination with 2,687 delegates.

Are you referring to Biden visiting NC? I'm not sure what state Biden is campaigning in that could be described as heavily favoring him right now.

There might be good reason for Biden to spend a lot of time in places like Michigan or PA, though. He's up by a bigger margin in those states than he is in Florida, for example, but he doesn't need Florida to win. If Biden wins every state he's up in by at least 3%, he'll win the election. So, for him, he doesn't have to get the true toss ups. It might be wiser to ensure the 3% margin states go for him.

I just don't want to hear whining about the electoral college again (regardless of whom wins) as if it's suddenly a surprise that it determines the winner of the election.

ESPECIALLY since despite all the furor and angst....the democrats didn't change their primary to popular vote.

P.S. I was referring to Hillary campaigning in CA and other states she was way ahead in which per reports infuriated Bill Clinton (a very smart and astute politician) to smash his cell phone in frustration.

Democrats make stops in CA and NY for fundraising. You do a rally followed by a fundraiser (or three). And then you don't go back. That's one of the reasons I dislike the Electoral College: only a fraction of the country "matters" when it comes to trying to convince Americans to vote for a candidate.

In normal years, Republicans would make stops in places like Texas for the same reason - easy rallies and easy money.

I think Biden should be spending time in WI, MI and PA especially. However, NC and FL are close and winning either one shuts the door on Trump. Let's say Trump pulls out a win in PA. Biden would need one of FL or NC to offset that. If Trump pulled out a win in WI, Biden again needs one of FL, NC or AZ to offset that.

Biden shouldn't be going for the "mandate." Sure, 350+ EV would be huge. Winning a state like GA is a nice bonus. But, Trump showed that a minority-elected President, albeit with a EC victory that was due to razor thin margins in 3 states doesn't effect your ability to govern. Besides, just claim you have a mandate even when you don't. Fake it till you make it!

Amen to that! I'll bet 1/3rd of the posts here allude to popular votes. For every post that mentions electoral college, there are 5 posts that mentions the popular vote. What a huge waste of time.

I am a strong supporter of the electoral college. I can see both sides of the argument but if we depend on only popular votes about states would control all elections and the other 47 or so states would not make a hill of beans how their residents vote or if they are even represented.

Mob rule? That is what popular vote is... We live in the United States... We don't all live in California or New York... If you want mob rule, there would be no United States...

Agreed. Biden needs to run this one into the end zone with both hands wrapped tightly around the ball. No pre-celebration. Clinton already had a massive fund raising advantage, clearly there were massive tactical errors in her campaign and the professionals have written about them. Getting *caught* screwing over Sanders may have been enough in and of itself.

Claiming a mandate is always bad politically. When you get blocked, your opposition can spin that you're trying to bulldoze them. Always keep up appearances of reaching across the aisle and it puts enormous pressure on your opponent to be labeled obstructionist in such a way that the middle agrees with you.

Well, gird your loins now - if the winner of the Presidential race doesn't also win the the popular vote, you're going to hear about it, regardless of who loses.
