I think there's about a 30% chance that Texas will go for Biden this year. Even if Biden wins, though, that doesn't mean Texas is blue. Trump is likely going to perform worse than a generic Republican would.
However, Texas will turn blue. There's little doubt about that. Whether that happens in 2020 or 2024 or 2028, I don't know. Texas has had the demographics to be blue for a long time -- it just hasn't had the turnout. However, Texas' growth is happening in its cities, and those people are very far from the "pistols and petroleum" stereotype the state has had for a long time.
I don't have issue with purple states... because the electorate isn't locked in on a "party" per se*. Being a resident of Florida I see this "purple-ness" as issues related not a party vote. One note about Florida as it MAY relate to TX... the new residents are definitely of right of center thinking and have largely registered republican or independent.

How do you know that? Is it because those that you associate with think that way? We have become a very polarized country and tend to “hang” with those of similar belief systems. Many voters also have pretty stupid reasons why they vote for the candidate.

There is simply nothing supporting that, people move here from all over the country and they don't just change their political views because they come to FL. Most of the time people move here due to work opportunities, not because they don't like the political leanings of their former state.
I moved here almost 20 years ago from a northern state and have been registered as an Independent the whole time. Most of my neighbors are Independents that originally came here from other parts of the country, they all lean more Democrat than Republican.

Agreed... I'm sure it depends on where they come from, but the ones from New England/NY/NJ are generally democrats. I also know quite a few from Michigan/Wisconsin, and I'd say 2/3 lean republican and 1/3 lean democrat. The few I know from Canada are mostly democrat with one republican in the bunch.

Florida?
Trump won by 100,000 votes while losing Miami-Dade by 300,000 votes. Trump will do better in Miami-Dade and that will win him the state.
He won Texas by 1.1M votes. It won't be close this year, either. Hillary only won the border areas and Trump will do better in those areas this time.
