Al Franken resigned after much pressure over a photo of a fake boob grab on a USO tour. Yet Hawley will continue in his role as Senator...

I've always thought that it wasn't Trump we needed to fear the most...it's the next Trump. A Trump without obvious mental deficiencies. A Trump that is much younger. A Trump that is handsome and scarily rational as he outlines his policies.

That's the person who could destroy the country. And Hawley fits that set of criteria.

Scary.

I don't think he's handsome. Has the face of a badger.

Otherwise I am afraid I agree with you.

Yep. We've had the Beer Hall Putsch. Notes have been taken and lessons learned.

Yes, but as a future presidential prospect Hawley is toast. That fist pump of solidarity he gave to the terrorists attacking the Capitol will follow him the rest of his life.

Let me be clear, this is not just a contract dispute. It's a direct assault on the First Amendment.
He has a law degree. He knows perfectly well that there's no First Amendment issue in play. This is agitprop for his less educated voters. Not very well-crafted, but he's not telling the truth here, he damn well knows it, and he's gambling that his followers are too dumb to notice. Speaks volumes of his respect for those who's supposedly representing.

This is what unbridled ambition looks like.

Trump was simply the figurehead, the spokesman, the gifted entertainer that the Radical Right needed to propel their agenda to the masses. Hawley and Cruz and the New Confederates or New American Fascists or whatever you want to call them will carry the torch forward.

This is the great opportunity for these guys, and they are going to push it to the limit, through whatever means they can find up to and including violence and armed insurrection. Their goal has ALWAYS been to destroy the American form of democratic government and free elections, in order to institute whatever autocratic police state they think will benefit them somehow in the end.

Hawley is shameless opportunist. He has no real principles and convictions.

You are are right, a fair number of them might be too dumb (or willfully ignorant) to notice that he is lying. But it is also important to note that there are plenty of his followers that KNOW he is lying and applaud his efforts to undermine our Constitutional Republic in whatever way that he can.
