The President might not be able to help us, but George W Bush has shown explicitely how a President can hurt us.

At very least, I am reasonably confident that Barack Obama will not be a third term of George W Bush-Please God No.

You can prove me wrong if you are up for the challenge. How has any recent President changed drastically how people live in general. Up for it. Unemployment is lower that when Bill Clinton ran for his second term. I can think of only one difference and it is war but since being in the military is by choice I really can't accept that either. Are you up for it?

I respect your service as I have family members serving but if someone enters the military they should expect to serve whenever and whatever that might be.

Now if someone in the military is concerned about a President that will just pull troops out in a fashion that will possibly do them harm I am on their side. However I don't think any President, including Obama would totally disregard his generals advise on troop withdrawal, no matter what might be said on the campaign trail.

I agree he will definitely not be like Bush. The problem is he is an unknown. I have no fear that Obama will run out and change us to a socialist country overnight. I have no fear that he will destroy out military. I have no fear that he will drag us into a financial quagmire. I have no fear because that is the job of Congress and they are too worried about keeping their jobs.

I agree wholeheartedly. That is why you have to pull up your bootstraps and do it yourself. Relying on the government to do it for you is living in a fairy tale.

this class of presidential candidates is the worst I have seen in at least 4 years. who gets elected really doesn't matter. they are all terrorists. we haven't had a good president in almost 100 years.

I am sure if you were in poverty and had to rely on public assistance during a change in presidencies, you might think differently. If you were a child in a music program in a public school that got cut to use the money for some other purpose, you might think differently.

If you made $900,000/yr. I am sure that you would see a change in lifestyles as tax policies change as well.

Everyone in this country is not the same.
What has any President done to end poverty? Do you really think any President will ever be able to do that, If so I have a bridge for you.

The answer to our education problem does not lye with the President it will only be changed if our school systems are completely overhauled and a employment system similar to private business is implemented. Without competition our school system has become lethargic and unresponsive. The President can't fix it, school vouchers, overhaul of the archaic administrative gobley **** we have in the education system might help.

I don't feel sorry for anyone making $900,000 a year and their tax plight and don't consider that an issue that most Americans care about.

You are right most Americans are not the same. We are a country of majority rule so unfortunately that will mean that some Americans will be better off than others. If you would like to change that you might want to look at communism, socialism, or something other than Democracy because in a Democracy that is how it works.

BTW I don't believe that the government can solve these issues by themselves, especially the poor and homeless. That is OUR job as a society either through charitable organizations or as in my case my church that has many outreach programs to help the poor in our community.

Thanks. Of course I expect to serve whenever and wherever. However, as a citizen, I have my opinions as to what constitutes a good war that furthers American interests and what is a bad war that distracts us and drains our resources. As a soldier, I fight whatever war I'm sent to fight regardless of how I feel about it. A job is a job. I will say this though, after Bush my perspective on the power of the presidency to affect my life and the life of others has changed forever. I didn't vote in 2000 because I figured either candidate would have been about the same. Boy was I wrong. I will never make that mistake again. I think we would be in a very different place today had Bush not been elected in 2000. I think where we'll be in 2012 largely depends on November. I will never shirk my civic duty again.
