You say that, but seems like every couple of generations we have to have another blood letting.

So much for Southern hospitality.

Seriously, the demographic tea leaves for your side really sucks.

It would be interesting for the border patrol agents. They would be relocated to Oklahoma, Arkansas, and with new check points. Texas would lose their military bases, NASA, and other large govt programs.
Texas will never get 2/3rds of Congress or the states to ratify. There are too many large corporations with offices and contracts in Texas, and they would lobby hard to not let Texas leave. The cost, disruption and chaos it would cause to interstate commerce would be astronomical.

As a Californian I can assure you that a split will never happen here.

Only Austin is liberal. The other cities you mention are Democrat-voting, which is a very different thing.

Yes. Civil war is a terrible thing. Some extremists are irresponsible and frankly, stupid. Texans have this belief that they could be a separate country and function well.

I wonder if they realize Texas loses (or should lose) any Federal dollars if it secedes.

In that case we're long overdue.

There are many countries with far less that have endured for centuries.

Texas is the southern end of the Red Wall. Many states would likely join with it. There is no reason that the new nation shouldn't depart unhindered and in peace. The Founding Fathers would have approved.
