If I remember correctly, if he felt the campaign was attacking Obama, he would resign.
Now, to call Obama on the carpet for his naive and dangerous ideas on foreign policy "attacks"....good thing the guy is leaving, if that was the reason he decided to go.
This is pretty significant. Very impressive to see someone in the public political arena committed to keeping his word.
