For the republicans I would say that it is a close race between Romney, Huckabee, Palin, Jindal, and Portman. I'm still debating who I like the best between those five.
I think Obama has Edwards locked up, McCain it's up in the air, from news it seems as Huckabee is the leading VP choice, however with all the hype about race and gender, McCain might go with a better choice Condi to secure the female votes after Hillary drops out.

I agree with the strategy of picking a female running mate to convert alot of former Hillary supporters over to the republican side. But Rice would never agree to be VP. Sarah Palan has the highest approval rating of any governor in the nation. It also helps that she is young and very attractive.

If McCain chooses a woman to convert Hillarity fans, I'd like to see Obama choose Powell to drag Republicans over to his side. I was talking to a Republican the other day about possible running mates and Powell's name came up. He thought it was a fantastic idea, but then realized I was talking about the Obama ticket. The whole concept just confused him.. you think Powell would "cotton" to Obama, he asked. Personally, I think Powell is far closer to the Democrats than the Republicans and putting him on the D ticket would be a major challenge to the GOP perception of what a Democrat is ... Webb would have the same effect, but it would be on a smaller scale. There are Webb/Powell Democrats out there. I'm one of them.
