And here's the reason why JFK may have said this but why it turned out to be wrong:

Bush's "With us or against us" policies have already proven to be a huge failure as NK tested it's nukes not long ago (while we mucked around in Iraq.)

Bush's policies may not have worked but did you read the link? Kennedy's didn't work either because they viewed him as a weak intellectual.

Unfortunately, I think Obama would probably come across as a weak intellectual too.

I think their perceptions would be correct. "Sissy" oozes from that guy.

(I didn't read the article. Edit: Okay, I read it... Excellent article and worth the time. I had no idea...)

(The article is short. You should go read it. It's very very good.)

Couldn't agree more. I believe in England he would be referred to as a "dandy".

Doesn't it seem like his wife has his testicles in a jar? He seems very much like the "uhh yes, dear; sorry, dear; whatever you uhh say, dear" type.

I would imagine this is the reason for his popularity with the apathetic-bored-housewife and emasculated-metrosexual-male voting blocs, respectively. Both can identify in some way.

A sad state of affairs indeed.

Kennedy admitted he was out classed in his first face to face meeting with Krushchev mostly due to his inexperience.
But if you read Krushchev's memoirs, he admitted that JFK grew a lot during his term as president and become a respected and worthy adversary and a great leader of his country.
Remember the Cuban Missile crisis? Who backed down?
It wasn't JFK. He told Krushchev any missile launched from Cuba toward the US would be considered an attack by the Soviet Union and would require an immediate and full scale nuclear response against the Soviet Union.
Forty eight hours later the missiles in Cuba were being dismantled.
Obama is not and will never be a JFK.
Obumer couldn't carry JFK's jock strap.
Since I am a democrat, and it looks like Obama is going to get the nomination, I have no one to vote for in this election.
Global warming has increased significantly with all the hot air Barrack has been spewing and it is the same gas from the same place over and over again.
I think he needs some Beano medicine.
He has no right to ever repeat or even infer to anything JFK ever said.
There is absolutely no comparison and never will be.

Nice defense. Excellent counter.

...and aren't we ones to learn from our mistakes, undoubtedly in this day and age, a Presidents advisor's will have him better prepared - and Senator Obama is smart, and has shown a greater propensity than most of our politicians, to listen to advice.
