That's an easy one, he'd lose. Not only would he be running as a Progressive, but many of us have grown tired of Hollywood actors thinking they understand politics.

Nah, he'd lose, regardless of how much anti-gun BS he pushed. Texas has been red for decades and will continue to do so. Even if they did flip back to blue, it wouldn't be from a victory of a Hollywood actor.

Abbott leading O’Rourke in tightening Texas race: poll

Incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is leading challenger Beto O’Rourke (D) by 5 points in Texas’s upcoming gubernatorial race, a recent poll showed.

Abbott had the support of 48 percent of Texas voters compared to O’Rourke’s 43 percent in the poll from Quinnipiac University conducted from June 9 to June 13.

The latest results mark a significant tightening of the race, as a similar December survey showed Abbott in the lead with the support of 52 percent of respondents compared to O’Rourke’s 37 percent.
FWIIW the above was a registered voters poll which in Texas always short the republican.

A two cycles ago Wendy Davis was within 8 or 9% of Abbott per a couple of RV polls. Abbot won by nearly 20%.

The BluePrint poll showing Abbott up by much more was in fact a likely voters poll.

Ownership of resources is not the issue. Texas does make money off petroleum leases.

Flat out lying as 200 people are freezing to death is a problem for me.

Just like lying about what was going on in Uvalde then blaming it on 'someone gave me faulty information'. The would be his head of the state LE agency.

So since two days ago Beto has cut the lead by 15 points? Epic!

Democrats have gone totally insane.

Just about no one wants anything to do with Democrats today.

Even large majority Latino communities are voting for Republicans now. Most recent in Texas.

Until Democrats return to something resembling normal, they will have a hard time winning in any non insane area of the country.

At least many Texas Democrats know who runs the state. It ain't the governor.

O'Rourke had a better chance of beating Ted Cruz than Greg Abbott. Cruz won simply because he is a republican not because anyone really liked him. O'Rourke has no chance of beating Abbot and this coming from a Texas democrat. You have to be moderate democrat in this state to truly contend in a statewide election and O'Rourke is not.

It's best not to trust any polls, and go in and vote. Time and time again you see republicans get on average 5-7 extra percentage points, sometimes more, compared to what polls suggest. These polling agencies just aren't that accurate anymore.

Whether they actively rig the polls or not, the narrative the media spoon-feeds.. try to see outside of it, which I know most of you here already do.

For real, because I really thought that political stunt at the conference for the shooting was the final nail in his coffin.

Anyone that would vote for Beto is as much of an idiot as he is.
