There was an attempted recall against him. I'm sure they're grooming him to run, though, especially with his ties to Pelosi.
I don't know why they ever thought that recall would work. I live in the state too and see he has a strong fan club from the far western part of the state which also happens to be the most heavily populated with democrats and Pelosi supporters.
I'm certain you are right about grooming him. I predict that just about the time Pelosi leaves (whether she does it voluntarily or with a tag on her toe), Gavin will be making his entrance to a lifetime in DC. Like the Clintons did.

I can't see how DeSantis will be allowed to run. Gavin may be an empty suit, but at least I think he is pretty self aware he is an empty suit. I don't think he'd run for national office and have everyone else find out.
I will say, as awful a governor as I think he is, I'd take him over Kamala, Pete, Francis O'Rourke, Bernie, Liz and AOC everyday of the week.
The Dem Gov that will run is JB Pritzker from IL, he's expected to win a 2nd term in November and rumored to have higher aspirations. I doubt the he wins the nomination but I think he'll make a go of it.
