Republicans are set to perform very well in the upcoming midterms, but some states are more hospitable to Trumpist candidates than others. Maryland is one of the least suited - it is highly diverse, well educated and predominantly urban or suburban with a large number of workers in the federal government (a.k.a. "swamp" to the #MAGA folks) .

Yes, the economy and gas prices are huge liabilities for Democrats, but that doesn't mean they will lose absolutely every race as some locations just have too many "libs" who would vote for a Hogan type Republican only.

My state (Massachusetts) is like this and I am expecting something similar to happen here. Many hear believe Charlie Baker, our moderate Republican governor, elected not to run for another term since he was disfavored by the Trump wing and was threatened with being "primaried." Now the leading Republican contenders for the spot are Trump-backed Geoff Diehl and the more moderate Chris Doughty. Diehl lost in his run for Senate against Elizaboth Warren in 2018 with only 36.2% of the vote. I'm waiting to hear that the Democratic Party is throwing money at the Diehl campaign because IMO Doughty has a better chance in the general.

Someone bought into the hate and fear mongering from the extreme left, which is often referred to as the democrat party mainstream and their media propaganda machine.
Just because Trump says there is massive fraud and he won a state doesn't make him right, he needs to back it up with facts.

2016 was one of the most scrutinized elections in our history, if you think all the republican claims weren't reported in the media you are mistaken. Press conferences by Giuliani, Kraken, Navarro and all the other right wing congressmen like Hawley and Cruz doesn't exactly bring the word suffocating to mind.

This guy has ZERO chance in the general election in a state such as Maryland.

Default Election Denier Faces Newcomer in MD Governors Race

We'll have to see how folks will swallow all this fraud stuff after the Jan. 6 investigation shows what happened.

Quote:
Wes Moore, a best-selling author who garnered high-profile celebrity and political endorsements, is projected by the Associated Press to win the Democratic nomination for Maryland governor, setting up a battle between a state legislator who rallied the Make America Great Again base and a charismatic political newcomer who, if elected, would be the state’s first Black chief executive.

The GOP candidate is a real winner:

Quote:
Cox attended the Jan. 6, 2021, rally and called Vice President Mike Pence a traitor on Twitter that day, although he later denounced “mob violence,” deleted the tweet and expressed regret about his language while facing a legislative ethics inquiry.

Called Mike Pence a traitor?

Conservative radio talk show host? Evangelical religious zealot? Former congressman with an impeccable conservative voting record? Former arch conservative governor of Indiana?

That Mike Pence?

As far as I can tell Larry Hogan has been a popular governor, and under ordinary circumstances that should give his party some kind of edge in the election. Let's see how this choice works out for them.

Hogan is out due to term limits. I don't know if this guy Cox can glide in on his coat tails.

Very unlikely considering Hogan has spoken out against Cox and said he won't vote for him.
