She'll probably pull it off.

But it wasn't meant to be this close.

A narrow victory in a Primary for Squad nobility is a shockingly ominous sign for Dems.

She won by two. For all their bluster the Squad actually underperformed Biden in their own districts in 2020. It was most noticeable in Omaha where their endorsee won the primary and lost the general resoundingly to Don Bacon while Biden carries the district to earn One EV out of the Nebraska allotment.

And as much as AOC crowed about the vast minority/youth coalition that propelled Biden to victory, it never actually materialized. Dems lost ground among some Hispanic groups and Southern California Asians in 2020. Biden won because of suburban white voters and blacks showing up in greater numbers (even if they lost percentage among AA men, he gained more raw votes via turnout.) And Georgia/Atlanta area minorities are squad aligned.

I think this shows that even in a minority district in a large urban metro, the country is simply not that far left. And many minorities and immigrants are simply not socially liberal.

What it shows is that Democrats are not as far left as Repubs make them out to be. Omar's opponent, who came so close to beating her, is a moderate democrat who campaigned on law and order. I wish he had won.

This is the flip side of what's happening in the Republican Party, where MAGA election-deniers are winning all the primaries. It will come back to bite the GOP in the end.

Sad to see that she pulled it off. Oh, well. There's always 2024.

What will the GOP do with their new majority? Their legislative agenda is what? The mindless screeching of "Brandon" is all we`ve seen since trump`s thrashing. Apparently, that`s all they have.

Stopping Democrats from being able to advance their anti-worker, anti-America agenda would be a success.

I don't see how Rep. Omar virtually losing in a Democratic primary is bad for the party, when a number of Republican House members actually DID lose their primaries - and not always because of impeachment. Mississippi's 4th district (for example) is not going to be competitive just because Rep. Palazzo was knocked off by another Republican, and Minnesota's 5th district with Omar on the ballot won't be either. In non-competitive districts, the identity of the favored party's nominee is of very little significance since the other party has no chance.
