This is a great sign for democrats. The Dobbs decision is looking like it is going to pay off in spades. Excellent news.

Hmmm.
The thread has gone cold.
Wonder why?

But that's never been the case. The bulk of the predictions for this race was that it was a tossup, both before and after the decision overturning Roe was issued. This was not some unpredicted outcome (again, as far as non-partisan predictions and polling went).
I think it is important to not read too much into a single special election, and thought the same when the GOP picked up TX-34 earlier this year. With that said if the GOP was going to pick up a bunch of seats in the House, a Biden +1.5 district would be the exact type of district they would be picking up. The four special elections since the Dobbs decision in which we have final results have either gone to the Democrats in this case or been closer than you would expect in looking at the dynamics of the district.. Now, I still fully expect the GOP to take the House, but this is starting to look less likely to see the larger gains expected a few months ago.

What does the U.S. House of Representatives have to do with the US Supreme Court, exactly?

The candidates made sure of that.

Abortion will win it for the democrats more often than is comfortable for republicans.
What control does the US House have over abortion laws?

It is. Can't believe the GOP isn't making adjustments after the Kansas vote.

They caught the car. Now they have no clue what to do with it.

A potential nationwide ban on abortion v codifying the right to an abortion.
I’m worried with the conservative nuts in congress.
Clearly many others feel the same way.
I am not surprised by the outcome in this race.

I don't see how either of these things are constitutional. Especially the latter. Congress doesn't codify rights, that's left to the Constitution and the Supreme Court. Though of course, if you can get five justices to say that it passes the Constitution....then it passes the Constitution.

Well I do and so do many other voters.
But you go ahead and believe the right to an abortion will never be taken away.
Made that mistake once- never again.
