I emailed my County Clerk and Recorder a few years ago to ask about the steps that are taken to ensure that illegal aliens aren’t accidentally registered to vote, since Colorado provides driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, and has “motor voter” now. And the answer was lackluster and basically they said that if an illegal alien was sent a ballot by mistake, they (the County Clerk and Recorder) would hope that the recipient would not sign the affidavit and not return the ballot.

Definitely makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when it comes to ensuring that illegal aliens aren’t voting. Do I think it happens a lot here in Colorado? No, but I also don’t think the processes to ensure that this doesn’t happen are as strong as one would think.

Why? Seems very minor. They would have never been able to register. There’s no conspiracy.

30,000 is minor? if the system is already messed up by sending non-citizen cards, what makes you think the system will be on top of all those 30,000 people to reject them . The state already gives D.L. to illegals so it is a mess to start with.

Why? Because others may not see sending out 30k registration cards to non-citizens as a minor error. And rightfully so. If those in charge screwed this up what other problems might CO voters see this Nov.

Typical slippery slope nonsense. This whole thing is NOTHING. The paranoia is REAL.

It's not a slippery slope... it's sloppy work and we can't have this come Nov.

Exactly. Jena Griswold spends more time being snarky and nasty on Twitter than she spends doing her job. Do I think this error will result in 30,000 illegal aliens voting in November? No, but it’s still sloppy and doesn’t exactly instill confidence that the processes in the Secretary of State’s office as well as the processes in place in our individual counties are as buttoned-up as they would like us to think.
