Power Line: Memorial Day: A Contrast (http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/05/020607.php - broken link)

Barack Obama must be the most gaffe-prone politician in memory. Today, he delivered a Memorial Day speech in New Mexico. After greeting the local Democratic Party dignitaries, he began:
Quote:
On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.
Memorial Day honors those who have died in our nation's military service. Is it possible that Obama does not know this? Sometimes the things that come out of his mouth defy understanding.
What was really offensive about Obama's New Mexico appearance, however, was what followed his very brief, but generally appropriate, tribute to America's war dead. He continued with a town hall-style question and answer period that cast veterans in the only role with which the Democrats are comfortable--victims--and sought to politicize the holiday.
I heard that audio on Rush's show today...several times, of course...and had to laugh each time. Obama is better than Quayle ever was at this.
Just goes to show politicians will say *anything*, and most of it makes no sense.
Agreed. Someone needs to keep an updated list of his gaffes -- he might be better at stupid than anyone one before him. This guy has fooled soooo many people but he'll make great late night comedian fodder.

Who is pulling this guy's strings? Soros?
What was really offensive was when I had to run an errand that day, and about 3/4 of the Las Cruces police department (as well as several Dona Ana County sheriffs vehicles) was deployed onto the road I was driving on, to divert me onto a side road. I did not realize he was the reason for that diversion until I heard it on the news later that evening. To me, Obama's presence was not worthy of a single city police car being present. That's a drain against my local tax dollars, not to mention city safety.
One other thing: I can assure that Obama's campaign did not foot one red cent of this orgy. None of the gas burned in all the vehicles, etc.
