Alabama is one of the biggest religious right states. It's where the biggest issues that get people out to vote have to do with abortion and homosexual rights. Obama isn't for banning abortion and putting a stop to the homosexual agenda, so in Alabama he won't have the chance of a snow ball making it through hell of winning that state. McCain isn't super strong on being against abortion and the homosexual agenda, so expect many people in Alabama to throw their hands up in despair and sit out the election.

Like in most Southern states, disappointment with the GOP means that a lot of us Southerners may shift our votes toward an Independent party - there is no reason to go Democrat (since they don't have the working man's interest in mind).

Something like 25% of Alabama's population is supposedly "Liberal", but I'm not entirely sure where all of them are hiding..

I didn't see the poll that showed McCain way behind in Massachusetts. If McCain picks Romney as a VP, they might just win Massachusetts.
