I lived in NJ almost all my life. Let me tell you the truth of what has happened in New Jersey. Middle class, skilled, gainfully employed New Jerseyans have left the state in droves over the past 10 years, and have been replaced by immigrants, principally from the third world, who lack the understanding and appreciation of a capitalistic system.

New Jersey's population drain - NJVoices: James Hughes and Joseph Seneca
Sadly, this portends a more national trend, sadly that is, if you are like me, and believe in a) the Constitution, and b) the principles of limited government. When you have people arrive that expect government services, you exert additional pressure on the remaining people who are gainfully employed. Taxation, progressive taxation, has a tipping point, whereby people are forced to relocate due to financial reasons. The left of center states have been very much guilty of this trend, but New Jersey especially. And I can vouch for this, I am living proof of the phenomenon. I voted with my feet and got the hell out of there.
