I mostly posted this article for the hilarious quote below:

" Sen. McCain knocked it out of the park when he publicly invited Barack Obama to join him during one of his many visits to Iraq.

I can picture it now: Sen. McCain showing Sen. Obama the ropes, saying things like, "Now that's what we call a Marine" and "See, young man, that's a tank." And so on. "

Methinks that McCain is hoping that an insurgent takes out his rival.

Sad. Sad indeed.

Going to Iraq doesn't mean you'll learn anything useful. The dog and pony shows put on by the brass are just that. McCain thought going to the market was just like going to the mall back home. Except for the Blackhawk choppers, the 2 platoons of infantry and all the Blackwater (subsidiary of Bushco) mercenaries.

If someone wants to learn something about any progress in Iraq and how the troops are faring they should just interview a few hundred guys (corporals to Sergeants First Class and 1st Lts through Major) just back from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or more tours, including wounded. Some key questions might be:

How different were things on your last tour vs your previous tour(s)?

How effective were your leaders?

How effective were the Iraqi troops you worked with?

How good and sufficient was your equipment?

Are you getting all the medical and other care you need/were promised in your contract?

How soon can you go back?

Is this picture real? If so, then we don't need a gay president.

Sen. John McCain strolled briefly through an open-air market in Baghdad today in an effort to prove that Americans are “not getting the full picture” of what’s going on in Iraq.

NBC’s Nightly News provided further details about McCain’s one-hour guided tour. He was accompanied by “100 American soldiers, with three Blackhawk helicopters, and two Apache gunships overhead.” Still photographs provided by the military to NBC News seemed to show McCain wearing a bulletproof vest during his visit. Watch it:

McCain recently claimed that there “are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today.” In a press conference after his Baghdad tour, McCain told a reporter that his visit to the market today was proof that you could indeed “walk freely” in some areas of Baghdad.

pssstt - townhall.com is more slanted than fauxnews.

There have been many, many elected officials that go to Iraq to see for themselves what is going on. Even Pelosi has gone a few times.

Admit it - this is going to HURT him terribly. It already has, ie his insistence that he will be making a trip after being thumped on the head by McCain.

So now you try to discredit the process by claiming that nobody gets the "real deal". Hogwash. More excuses from the Obama apologists on his latest "gaffe".

You keep telling yourself this stuff as McCain rolls over your boy with this issue in the general.

What's his excuse for not talking to the Generals about Iraq? Face it, he doesn't want to know the good news - he might then have to admit he was wrong about the surge.

Can you see the ads? Obama, willing to talk to the nutjob in Iran, unwilling to talk to our own commanders? Love it!

Yes, we know. Before the surge. He hasn't been back since to see all the progress taking place there.
