A lot of Independents are actually for McCain. He fits their more moderate stance better than he does for the GOP base.

With so much at stake, the Democrats can't lose this election, but they probably will.
We can only hope.

To the OP nobody is all that excited about McCain. We are just terrified of Obama. So ill take a moderate to left leaning over the far left guy any election!

Could you please explain how "100 years in Iraq" is 'moderate'?

McCain is a warmonger who believes that those of us who choose civilian life over a militart one are some how lesser human beings. He is a military elitist who scares the crap out of me, and scares the crap out of most Americans. At least Obama has shown through his 8+ years in the Illinois senate that he can compromise, while McCain calls anyone who does not believe in endless war a "coward".

Edited because it was worthy of starting a new thread. See "The problem with pedastals."

Folks, POTUS is a job, and a nasty job a lot of the time. The people who run for this job are politicians. Not higher beings. Politicians. Every single one of them.

No matter who ends up with the job, it will be a person who is going to make mistakes. A lot of them, and a few of these mistakes will anger you. It will be a person who has character defects, and political associations that you may not like. You will not like every single policy and every single decision. All presidential candidates have serious flaws, but you have to pick one.... so just hold your nose and choose someone who best represents your interests.

If you put someone on a pedastal, he's going to fall off sooner or later. And then what happens--you feel "betrayed" because he didn't turn out to be the "higher being" you imagined him to be. You found out he was just a politician.

Helloooooo!!! let me say it one more time: POTUS is a job, and the people who run for this job are politicians. Not higher beings. Politicians. Every single one of them.

LOL. Is that why we saw all the Republican candidates wetting themsleves over Ronald Reagan, ad nauseaum?

I thinnk it has more to do with the crop of candidates this go round. Not much to incite passion or inspiration there.

I think in all fairness that "100 years" comment has been purposely taken out of context. We all know that if McCain is elected, he can only ensure that we spend 4 -8 years in Iraq. The next 82 years will be someone else's mess to clean up.
