Powell served as National Security Advisor under Reagan and as Secretary of State under Bush. What in there indicates that he really is a Democrat?
Accepting an appointment from a president does not align you with their politics, obviously Powell was not comfortably with Bush and loved the adoration he got from the left when he said so!
If it werent for the failures of the Bush policy, Colin Powell would have made an excellent running mate for Obama even if he is republican. Colin Powel was actually one of the ones that had the guts to stand up to the Bush administriation on the Iraq war.
He clearly views Government as the solution to many problems after all he is in the miltary why would we expect other wise. Rhinos and so called Republicans aren't republicans anymore anyway. McCain is Obama light and most of BUSH 2.0.
Come November is more of the same from both the republicans and democrats.
Solution Ron Paul and Bob Barr 2008
I doubt that he would vote for Obama but I would not be too surprised if he did. I know quite a few lifelong republicans who will be voting for Obama simply because they think he is the best man for the job.
My own father will, and he's an old-time Republican, in fact he taught my daughters as toddlers to say, "Stay safe, stay strong - always vote Republican." He doesnt recognize what's become of the GOP and doesnt have faith in McCain, though I dont know why, even though they're both Navy officers who toured in Vietnam.
Sadly you're right. . . and they'll be kicking themselves for four years.
