The Army Times is reporting that: Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain appeared Tuesday to suggest rationing of veterans’ health care may be needed so combat veterans can receive the care they deserve.
At a town hall meeting in Dover, NH, McCain talked about the need to “concentrate” veterans’ health care on people with injuries that “are a direct result of combat.”
The Bush administration has [already] barred veterans at the bottom of the priority list from even enrolling in the veterans’ health system, a decision that Democrats in Congress have talked about overriding.
BTW: McCain voted NO on expanding the GI bill for college. I guess he's afraid too many soldiers of color may actually use it.
There it is folks, the GOP "support the troops" program: send them off to war and TAKE AWAY their benefits. Two-faced bastards.

What in the hell is that supposed to mean? Are you accusing McCain of being racist? His decision to oppose the GI bill was because it is fundamentally flawed and will hurt the quality of small unit leadership over the next several years. It has nothing to do with "soldiers of color" as it will effect all Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Flyboys the same.

The GOP agenda, from the Bush tax cuts (that JM once opposed but NOW wants to make permanent), to cuts in V.A. care, impacts heavily on people of color, the poor, and women, three demographics the GOP does NOT care to represent.
FOR EXAMPLE: Since Bush has been in office,
- median hourly pay of women 25 to 48 years of age has fallen from $15.04 in 2004 to $14.84 last year
- Census Bureau inflation-adjusted numbers show that a median American family made $61,000 in 2000 and, despite the economic expansion through most of the Bush administration, just $60,500 in 2007. That was the first time in history that the U.S. economy expanded without increasing ordinary families' standard of living.
- Recent data has the richest 1% of U.S. households -- those with annual incomes of $348,000 or better -- now control 34.3% of the nation's net worth, while the bottom 40% of households dispose of just 0.2% of America's wealth.
The GOP agenda is HEAVILY skewed in favor of wealthy white men, and to hell with the rest of us. Vote GOP at your own risk

....and what does any of that have to do with McCain and the GI Bill? Please make an arguement for how that bill not passing would have had more of an impact on people of color and why you think that is the reason that McCain did not vote for it.
I've already made my case. Make your case as to how it would HURT "small unit leadership."
You haven't made jack....you accuse McCain of being racist for not voting for the GI Bill and then you make a general arguement about the GOP being racist and sexist without talking about the GI Bill or McCain.
The new GI Bill gives those coming up on re-enlistment a huge incentive to get out. That is going to have a huge impact on the number of NCOs that re-enlist. So, despite the fact that the program will increase the number of enlistees, over the next several years there will be fewer experienced NCOs to train and lead those new recruits.
yes, mccain is an idiot, but so is barack. anyone voting for either man is clearly moronic.

Then RAISE the re-up bonuses, like Reagan did. Support the troops! But "support the troops" is only a lip service slogan and bumper sticker for the GOP, from the lack of humvee armor to deplorable conditions at Walter Reed Hospital...chimpy went there for photo ops with the wounded, then let those guys live in squalor. Same at Fort Bragg, the barracks there were a disgrace until the father of one of the troops put a video of it on YouTube and it caused a national furor.
The GOP is only looking out for the very wealthy and vested interests. Period.

Didn't Pelosi, Murtha and friends in the Democratically controlled Congress threaten to cut off funding for the war? Is THAT supporting the troops as well?
Hypocrites occupy seats on BOTH sides of the aisle.

There are limited resources. Increasing re-enlisment bonus' will just take money from somewhere else - pay increase, healthcare, weapons programs, etc. The stuff that you are railing against. McCain supported a reasonable compromise that would have provided some education benefits at the two year mark and would max them out at the 12 year mark. That would have provided the needed increase in educational benefits without hurting the re-enlistments. It's all about balancing the needs of the troops with the needs of the service.
.....and, I am still waiting for the connection between McCain's not supporting the bill and his being racist. If you're going to make an accusation like that, you really should be able to back it up.
