I could care less, as well. But what I do care about is how the MSM treated this story as compared to their treatment of similar stories involving Republicans. When a Republican is involved in tawdry behavior the liberal media reports it breathlessly, whether there is much of a factual basis or not. Example: early in the campaign the NY Times made it a front page story the unsubstantiated gossip that McCain had had an affair with a lobbyist. They didn't touch the Edwards story with a ten-foot pole. I could live with the bias if they would just drop the pretense of objectivity.

Leave the sex part out of it for a moment, what does it say about his betrayal of vows and how he has totally and utterly humiliated his wife with this, especially given her struggles with cancer and how hard she fought for him while he was campaigning?

And what does it say about a person to whom none of this matters?

No one expects a candidate to be a saint! If they do, they are idiots - we are all just human beings - no one is perfect!

However, the story here is not about an affair or a love child, even. The story is about campaign finances . . . and how Edwards used campaign money to pay a salary for dubious work performed by his mistress. That is the story. Your donation dollars at work. Read more here:

Great information in that link, I hope it gets picked up everywhere.

Can you imagine being MRS. Andrew Young? Having to explain to the girls at lunch? "Oh, he's not really the father, he's just doing John a favor...no, really...it's like throwing yourself on a grenade..."

Edwards is not a candidate, not involved in any of the campaigns and with all that is out will probably remain a private citizen for now and perhaps ever. He does not need to say anything and his mistress need not say or do anything. We are owed nothing that we can collect on. If he doesn't answer calls what is anyone going to do. For all intents he is retired and need not worry about us anymore. The big question is will those who benefited from his services to alleviate poverty , now be suffering more because of our insatiable lust for knowing his private life.

Is the cause to regulate Wall Street misconduct and other areas of financial misconduct better served because Elliott Spitzer was caught and is no longer on duty?

The big question is asked in anifani's post, #6. It's not that important in the cosmic scheme of things but it will continue to make small news if there's a fake daddy and it'll make massively big news if there's a payoff scandal using campaign funds.
