RealClearPolitics - Politics - Aug 15, 2008 - McCain raises $27 million in July

Quote:
John McCain raised $27 million in July, his largest one-month fundraising haul since clinching the Republican presidential nomination, while the Republican National Committee brought in nearly $26 million.
I guess all the speculation is true - he's lost his base.

No, he hasn't.

"Though more drilling won’t help Americans save money at the gas pump, it has certainly helped McCain win massive campaign donations from Big Oil. A new report by Campaign Money Watch shows that contributions to McCain from Big Oil skyrocketed (broken link) directly following his June speech in Houston, when he pledged his support of offshore drilling before an audience oil executives. The report notes:
In Texas alone, June oil and gas-connected donations to McCain’s Victory ’08 Fund, his hybrid fundraising venture with the RNC and state committees, reached $1,214,100.
Of that total, $881,450, or 73 percent, came after June 15. McCain announced his position in favor of offshore drilling on June 16."

Mccain has come from way behind to what looks like a tie .

When Dick Morris who is wrong MOST of the time predicted Mccain would lose by huge numbers.
I sadly than knew Mccain had a great chance of winning.

So? What's the problem. Obama has every industry donating to him as well. Have you checked the UNIONS and TRIAL LAWYERS to see the disparity?

FactCheck.org: Obama's Oil Spill

We find the statement misleading:

Quote:
Obama has accepted more than $213,000 from individuals who work for companies in the oil and gas industry and their spouses.

Two of Obama's bundlers are top executives at oil companies and are listed on his Web site as raising between $50,000 and $100,000 for the presidential hopeful.

The problem is McCain's June fundage came when he *hored himself out to the oil companies, almost to the minute. It didnt come from grassroots donations.
