Speaking at the Aspen Institute in Colorado yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said that recent Russian aggression in Georgia is the "first...serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War." McCain seemingly ignored the Gulf War, 9/11, and the Iraq War, to name a few:
My friends, we have reached a crisis, the first probably serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War. This is an act of aggression.
Think Progress » McCain: Georgia conflict is the ‘first serious crisis internationally since the end of the Cold War.’

Do people really want this guy to be president?

If this is the first serious crisis then why have we spent and lost so much over Iraq? Has he forgotten that war already and that national crisis?

In 2003 Senator McCain said - We can "muddle through in Afghanistan"

"The Taliban has regained large swaths of Afghanistan, al Qaeda has reconstituted itself, Osama bin Laden still is free, and Afghanistan is in crisis. All of that lends itself to our nation being that much less secure"
SOURCE

Couric: Senator McCain, Sen. Obama says, while the increased number of U.S. troops contributed to increased security in Iraq, he also credits the Sunni awakening and the Shiite government going after militias. And says that there might have been improved security even without the surge. What's your response to that?

McCain: I don't know how you respond to something that is such a false depiction of what actually happened.

"On my order, U.S. forces have begun strikes on terrorist camps of al Qaeda, and the military installations of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan," Bush said in a somber, televised address from the White House Treaty Room. The air assaults, he said, were joined by Great Britain, with assorted intelligence efforts and logistical support from several other nations, including France, Germany, Australia and Canada.

"We are supported by the collective will of the world," Bush said.

"About 40 nations were now on board with the United States' nascent anti-terror coalition, Bush said, all demonstrating varying degrees of cooperation."

Couric: Sen. Obama describes Afghanistan as the central front on the war on terror. That is where, after all, Senator, 9/11 was plotted. And now the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan seems to be a hot bed of al Qaeda activity. Why do you believe Iraq is the central front in the war on terror?

McCain: Well, one reason is because that's what Osama Bin Laden said that it was. He said, "Go to the country of the two rivers."

Are we confident in Senator McCain's ability to Win 3 Simultaneous Wars in 3 Nations?
