I have a simple reason for the poll situation. They are rigged. They say what the media wants them to say, which is dictated by the government. Keep us guessing and keep it close enough so that they can put whichever candidate they have chosen into office without there being to much fuss about it. They have learned much since the Bush scandal and are employing a different strategy this time to stay ahead of the American citizen. Gotta give em credit, they are doing a fantastic job of distorting the facts and confusing the voters.

McCain is proably big time behind, if you face it on the turnouts in the dem primaries vs. the turnout in the republican primaries. A lot of that was thanks to a large turnout of 18 to 35 year olds that, only have cell phones, not a land line. What do the pollsters call randomly? Certainly not a cell phone.
Who wants to debunk this point? I'd be really curious.
While I'm going to do some googling here, even though it may be tough, since again, not nearly the number of land lines among younger adults, but I heard that Obama has at least a 10 point lead from this demographic.
It's not too often I see 55 years old and over, who are more likely to vote for McCain, talking on a cell phone (compartively speaking).
A question that I have no answer for is how many people answer their phone? Will people use up their minutes to take a poll on a cell phone? My caller ID has come up Gallup and I wonder how people react when their caller ID tells them it is Gallup. I know some young people have different ring tones for people they know etc. Many people I know are selective about using the phone and will listen for a message and if they want to talk then pick the phone up otherwise they let the people leave a message if it isn't a telemarketer.

Isn't this entire thread about why polls aren't reliable?

Ya think? Just because a CD poll starts a certain way doesn't mean people will talk about that

Well Tuborg, talk about the polls you were expecting to show McCain getting a bump. YoYou know the one - the two threads you started saying McCain would get a bounce, today actually, that never appeared. Until now.

POLITICO's 2008 Swing State Map - Politico.com

Mccain 274-259.

This is not the map they had this morning.
that map showed 270-263 obama's favor. also, why did they give nevada to mccain in this map when each candidate had 44.3% a piece? either way, it shows a very tight race. i hate to say it, but i think that america is way too racist to elect a half black man even if he is the better candidate and more qualified.

The MN poll changed it. In the morning when I first supplied the link, it was 274-259 McCain.

The RCP has McCain 274-264, no toss-ups.
