"Sen. Obama said this morning that he wants a foreign policy that is tough, smart and principled," said Lieberman. "This afternoon I want to ask my colleague who I respect and like a couple of direct questions: Was it tough when Sen. Obama voted to order U.S. troops to retreat from Iraq on a fixed timeline regardless of the recommendations of our military commanders or conditions on the ground? Was it smart when Sen. Obama opposed the surge and predicted that it would fail to improve our security? ... Was it tough and principled when Sen. Obama said he would be open to changing his plan on Iraq after going there and talking to General Petraeus, which I think was the right position, only to change that position hours later after being heatedly criticized by organizations like MoveOn.org? I say respectfully the answer to all those questions is, no."
Beautiful Joe, just beautiful.
This will be the main reason Obama loses in Nov. Weak, incredible wrongheaded thinking on Iraq/War on Terrorism.
What Senator Obama does not seem to understand is that—had we taken the course he had counseled and retreated from Iraq—the United States would have suffered a catastrophic defeat that would have left America and our allies less safe not just in Baghdad, but in Kandahar and Karachi and Tokyo and London.
Has the surge improved US security? If yes, how so?
Interestingly enough, Senator McCain has changed his positions regarding the War more than Senator Obama...I know, I know - he's been a Senator Longer!
From the thread title I thought you meant Joe McCarthy lol
Lieberman is McCain's buddy on their Senate committee, I think is still the head of McCain's Connecticut fundraising office, and may still be in the running for McCain's VP but I dont know. How'd things work out with that John Hagee convocation btw?
sanrene Iraq has dropped to 4th place as a "important" issue in a latest poll with the economy being #1 something McCain said he doesn't know a lot about. As for Joe well what do you expect out of a closet Neo Con Zionist?

No it isn't. The economy and pocketbook issues are always THE top priority. Only when there is an event does national security trump that.
