Regardless of party, why are the candidates that we have today so lacking? Where is the caliber of leaders we used to have? Presidents such as Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, and JFK seem nowhere to be found.
Why are we left with choices like both Clintons, GW Bush, Kerry, Obama, Huckabee, Biden, and even McCain...who has tried for President before and has gotten the nomination almost just due to sheer perseverance and the lack of better candidates? I respect McCain and will vote for him, but I'm not enthusiastic about him or his inexperienced running mate.
Is it the media scrutiny and increased spotlight that candidates have to endure that has resulted in the mediocre candidates we see every 4 years?
