Because someone says something on C-D does not make it true. BTW, Biden has been giving interviews to the national press for 20-something years. We know a little about him and his stances by now.

Thank you ...obviously Biden isn't the coward Palin is.....but with her lack of experience I can see where she'd be scared....
But as someone pointed out, Joe Biden spoke with no one in the press the first 7 days after the Dem convention. Once a person is chosen by either candidate, they need to be brought up to speed on the direction of the campaign.
Here's the difference: Biden is a well known quantity. The public knows him and he has a very clear 35-year record of public service at the national level. In the current campaign, he made many debate appearances on national TV in front of audiences of millions where he answered pointed questions in his own words. Biden doesn't need to be "introduced" to the electorate.
On the other hand, Palin is a pure novice at national politics and is unknown outside of her sparsely populated state. The only words she's spoken have been carefully scripted for her. She needs an introduction. Well, she needs an introduction if the GOP has any hopes of using her to attract votes from independents. The hard-right religious element of the GOP has seen all they need. They aren't much interested in information, anyway.
This is odd. Every other candidate does, why is she any different? She will have to sooner or later. Why is she being protected? I read last night that after the convention she and her family was whisked away to fly back to Alaska at midnight. Are more shoes about to drop for this woman?
Keeping the press at bay for the time being is the strategy. The McCain campaign is going to let the press work itself in to a lather demanding access and then when the hue and cry for access to her is loudest they'll let her sit down for interviews. And when she doesn't wilt but rather shows she's a legitimate choice, with a huge TV audience watching, the Obama candidacy ends.

You think this is going to be the strategy for 58 days? Hmm, what happens in 58 days....

Well, that's your take on Palin's "powerful" influence.
I think the longer she stays in hiding, the clearer it is that she's a lightweight the GOP can't trust in front of a microphone. The Republicans remember what happened when they turned Dan Quayle loose w/o an escort in 1988. This time, they'll make sure their lightweight has been well coached.
Remember Joe Biden, him and Obama did not even travel together for the first week and when someone asked why, people like you said it was none of our business why.
Believe me, when she talks to reporters you will feel the ground shake.
Since when it is a requirement to talk to the media that has been proven to be racist, sexist and that spread lies purposely.
However, unlike Palin, Biden immediately answered reporters questions
Seriously. The candidates have discussed everything from Religion to foreign policy in the public eye and Senator Biden was in the Press by at least the next day.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Republican vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin is offering her first televised interview to ABC News in the coming week in Alaska.
Palin, the surprise pick of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, has been giving campaign speeches alongside the Arizona senator since the GOP convention but has not sat down for an interview about her views.
A McCain-Palin adviser says an interview was offered to ABC's Charlie Gibson several days ago and that they expect it to happen in the latter part of the week in Alaska. Palin is the governor of Alaska and is expected to return home at midweek after more joint appearances with McCain.
