Senator McCain receives some pretty terrible scores from Veteran watch groups. What has he done to deserve this?

They know better and can separate the cream from the top in war experiences and perhaps, just maybe they are contemporaries and know the real story? Is that possible? Just wondering. You asked so I wonder if that is a possible working hypothesis?

I just wonder why he isn't a shoe in for the veteran support. There's millions of veterans and he uses the POW line more often now, but has low marks among the watch groups...makes you wonder if he's turning a bunch of folks off & actually galvanizing them to the other side.

What do you mean by "scores"? Can you provide a link for me to read?

Senator John McCain D (http://www.iava.org/full-ratings-list - broken link)

Disabled American Veterans

Vietnam Veterans of America

Union Veterans 2008

McCain has not delivered (http://www.aflcio.org/issues/politics/mccain_vets.cfm - broken link)

This stuff is everywhere. Why such an uproar? He has hundreds of Generals backing him.

He's steadfastly refused to support veteran's issues, such as the recent improved GI Bill.

Mc Cain always votes against VA funding for a start.Better GI bill didn't appeal to him either.
If you talk to people in AZ they say McCain is well known for not associating with "little people".
Son and grandsoo of Admirals and Navy is by FAR most class-concious
of services,Wife with 300 K dress, 7 houses etc.
Whatever he is its not a man of the people.

He's not a man of the people, but he gives a lackluster speech, has a hair trigger temper, has that faraway 'I'm not really here' look in his eyes - reminds us so much of the dummie we are familiar with, the 'regular guy you could share a drink with', that how could the little people resist?

Because McCain is a Republican and Republicans like to do things like throw 80 year old WW2 veterans into the street as they are doing here in Georgia! In case you missed it yesterday:

Many also know that he wasn't really a hero, that he sold the U.S. out when he was a POW and so got priveleges.
