Silly, he was probably testing new models. I can't believe that they would put a lousy pilot like McCain in such a job.

testing of new aircraft does not mean that there are design flaws that make it into the field and are used for years before any kind of engineered fix is placed onto new aircraft, and or retrofited on existing aircraft.

You can't believe? NO, you haven't a CLUE, Yeager was shot down on his 9th mission, does that make HIM a sucky pilot? Scot Crossfield and Steve Fossett, Gus Grissom, (all dead BTW) were they lousy pilots? I can't believe idiots can get out of the kitchen and play on the computer. Don't say "probably" if you don't have a hint of what you're talking about.

all McCain had to do was press the esc key repeatedly and it would not have happened (sarcastic)
